Where are you based and can you travel?

I am London based but originally from the North and do weddings in and around both areas.

What does it cost?

My current pricing is £1200. This includes all the planning, writing and redrafting of your bespoke wedding ceremony as well as of course a fabulous ceremony delivered on the day. I want to celebrate exactly who you are as a couple and I create ceremonies that are custom made, full of personality and completely authentic to the two of you.

Do you charge expenses?

I charge travel expenses at 0.50p a mile to drive or travel tickets which you are welcome to book on my behalf. Where necessary I also charge accommodation but I will always try to keep these costs down for you wherever I can.

How did you become accredited?

I trained with Humanists UK, who regularly observe their celebrants to keep standards and quality at the highest possible

What’s involved/how do I work with you?

It would be a treat to have you! So my process is that we can have an initial chat on Facetime or Zoom. I can answer any questions you might have, we can chat through things and then you can decide if you would like to make the booking. If you want to go ahead I take a deposit and I’m all yours for the day. 12 weeks before the wedding I come to you and we have The Big Chat, where I find out your story and all about the two of you before we begin to put together your ceremony. We redraft until you’re entirely happy and then I come and deliver your fabulous ceremony on the day! There is more about this on my weddings page.

Are ceremonies legally binding?

Currently in England and Wales celebrant wedding ceremonies are not recognised as legal marriages. Humanists UK are working really hard to try and change that but right now you will need to have a legal ceremony as well as your Humanist one. Couples usually do this a few weeks, days or even earlier in the day ahead of their fun Humanist ceremony

Can you help us with our vows?

It would be a pleasure! I really believe you should write your own vows as this is the most personal and some would say significant part of your ceremony. I am happy to walk you through the process, keeping your vows secret from each other for maximum impact on the day.

How long does it last?

It is entirely up to you! I have done ceremonies that are anything between 10 minutes to over an hour! I would say around 35- 45 minutes is quite typical depending on what you would like to include.

We can’t get a registrar for our wedding date, can you do us a replica civil ceremony?

I offer a bespoke service to create a really special and personalised ceremony for the two of you, which I would love to speak to you about, but if you really do want a recreation of what would happen with a registrar I suggest contacting another celebrant as it’s not really what I’m about.

What about the religious/ non-religious stuff?

Humanist ceremonies are non-religious and I won’t read aloud any religious materials but we can absolutely include and cultural rituals (e.g Jewish glass smashing) and symbolic gestures, such as hand-fasting and ring warming to reflect you as a couple. I have a whole ceremony pack full of these so you can see if there’s anything that you would love to include.

Why should I choose a celebrant led ceremony instead of a traditional one?

The brilliant thing about a Humanist wedding ceremony is that you can have full control and create something that is entirely unique and bespoke to you. All of the words, readings and any other elements are chosen by you to make it really special. Other kinds of ceremonies have lots of rules about what you can and can’t say, do and even play at your wedding. They also have to take place at licensed and religious venues, whereas with a Humanist ceremony you can get married wherever and however you like!

What can we expect from a ceremony?

The most fun filled joyful and brilliant wedding you can have! I believe it’s very important to create the tone and atmosphere you want alongside the significance and weight of this being your wedding day. Together we can create something that is exactly what you want.

When do I need to contact you, ideally?

As soon as you are ready! I take advanced as well as last minute bookings so it’s always good to check availability as soon as you can.
